Applicants must demonstrate strong reading comprehension in English and Japanese, professional writing skills in English or Japanese, attention to detail, a cooperative attitude, intellectual curiosity, creative thinking, a proper business manner, and knowledge of the Japanese business environment. Previous experience in language services or scores from second-language proficiency tests will not be considered proof of qualification.
Interns with the qualifications indicated above are accepted on a case-by-case basis.
Translators must be trained in our West New York office or have a record of previous successful collaboration with our director. We do not accept applications from external freelancers.
Entry- and mid-level interpreters must be trained in our West New York office. Conference interpreters must have a record of previous successful collaboration with Ohnaka & Associates. Applications made by freelance conference interpreters are considered on a referral basis only. Referrals must be made by one of our current affiliates.
